Re: Front Differential...What did it eat?
A front diff from 97 - 05 will fit. Best bet is to swap it out. You would need a complete rebuild kit, probably new ring and pinion and then a setup of the gears...way more cost than a used diff. Lots of them in the P&P as Matt said.

Re: 2003 AWD -- is this stock?
Looks all stock to me with the exception of the 235 tires and a little torsion bar crank in the front. The 03-05 vans ride rear high from the factory.

Re: light problems
I would go back to the starter and make sure you have the wires in the correct locations and didn't miss one. I think there are a couple of them on the large battery post. Maybe one is intermittently hitting.

Re: It stopped running..
I would check for melted wires in a harness that run right across the top of the right cylinder head. I have seen and heard of this on a few of the early 90's vans. The wire harness comes from the ECM in the lower right kick panel and goes through the firewall near the doghouse cover. Best bet is re...

Re: Intermittent starting issues
Sometimes you can get the starter to work by tapping it with a rubber mallet. Sometimes the van will not start. I am thinking ingnition switch problem but how to be sure? Dash lights/chimes come on but when turned to the start position ... nothing. I keep trying and eventually it starts. Sometimes i...

Re: 2000 Astro Sluggish / No Power and Hard Shifting
What about plugs and wires? Any MIL codes? Maybe unbolt the muffler/tailpipe just after the cat and see if it runs better. Maybe the muffler is plugged. Another thought is a worn out distributor gear.

Re: Astro Van to Drive the Panamerican Highway
That's not too bad...for a Dodge! LOL Actually, the Astro/Safari won't get any better than that with a 4" lift and 30" or 31" tires. You might want to start saving lots of cash for gas!

Re: Hood Won't Open
I have had to give a closed fist smack right in the center of the hood before. You may need a helper hold the hood release lever open.

Re: Stable Rides and Seats
There is a front one....tucked way up in there. For the rear, Hellwig is the way to go. I have put one on every Astro I have owned. Another way to help the ride is installing LT rated tires when the time comes.
