Re: New van guy

Hi,

I once owned a 1979 G20 Beauville window van. 350 v8 with 4 barrel carb. Then after 17 years I got a 1994 G20 Sportvan window van. It had TBI, throttle body injection.

G20 has 5 lug wheels, G30 must have 6 lug or 8 lug wheels.

Enjoy your van.

Re: Torsion bars needed source???

Hello,

Today I received the Sway Away Astro AWD front torsion bars .
Excellent quality kit!
These are 10 to 15 % firmer than OEM bars.
Also, they have 47 splines on the keyed end for fine adjustment of ride height.

I will install soon.

Re: Torsion bars needed source???

Hi MMJ, Yes, I made the prototype disconnect rods from uni strut clevis ends PN P1973 and eye to eye rods from old 4x4 Ford Ranger sway bar parts from Pic n pull. Unfortunately, the whole assembly is about 21 mm too long to fit my 2003 AWD Astro. I sent the design idea to Brian at Sway Away to see i...

Re: Torsion bars needed source???

Hi,, I plan to install new ball joints ( heck , new control arms with ball joints) and all new Moog bushing and tie rod ends while doing torsion bar install. I should also put new timing chain gasket to stop the slow motor oil drip which stills to my skid plate and smells when it burns off. 2. Sway ...

Re: Spark plug change

Hi, Some of the spark plugs can be reached with the engine cover, aka dog house removed. The forward plugs can be reached through the inner fender after removing the trim fasteners and removing the plastic flap. Get spark plug socket and extensions and universal joints etc to get in to the tight spo...

Re: Torsion bars needed source???

Hi Again, If Sway Away can really make the firmer torsion bars, we should also post this good news on the other Astrosafari.com users group. Many people there would benefit from the higher spring rate on their AWD or 4x4 Astros with heavy front bumpers. We should also inform Mike at Jouneys Off-road...

Re: Torsion bars needed source???

Hi All,

That is great news!

I need firmer torsion bars for my lifted, 2003 AWD turned 4x4 Chevy Astro. Then I can mount winch up front.

Yippee!

Herbie wants torsion bars too.

I will call him next week.

Thank you,

Re: rough idle

Hi, 242,000 miles. That is great. 1. Check vacuum 2. Check electrical grounds at studs 3. Check fuel pressure 4. Check O2 sensor readings on OBD 2 scanner running real time data 5. Clean throttle body gate with special spray 6. Check compression at spark plug holes with WOT, wide open throttle to lo...
