Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

found out the s-10 exhaust manifolds won't work that were on the replacement engine as the pipe will be hitting a motor mount, and the right manifold that was on the van originally is warped, probably from when the original engine blew a head gasket and the previous owner ran it hot...ordered one of...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

towed the van to the exhaust shop with no incidents...it vibrates like crazy, most likely due to the tires flat spotted from sitting so long, but they're dry rotting so replacements have been added to the to-do list, and i'm thinking i may go ahead and replace the idler arms as it wiggles a little t...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

installed the battery tray...re-zip tied up the harness, removed a bunch of clips, wire ties, velcro and misc. stuff the previous owner added to the ceiling/walls....started straightening the floorboard in the rear with a jack and piece of 4x4...unfortunately work vans get used as work vans...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

bolted on the l/f wheel now that it holds air, bought some bolts for the battery tray, j-hooks and a hold down for the battery...had the battery tested and it's shot, as i figured it would be, got some prices on batteries and will look at getting one when it gets back from the exhaust shop...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?

replaced the upper fan shroud, couldn't find anyone who sells the lower, was a real ordeal as the lower would break if you looked at it wrong ](*,) ...also cut off all the rusted bolts holding the broken battery tray on...need to pick up some new hardware this week, but painted the new one and set i...

Re: cruise control questions

thanks guys...i've been good, busy, but good...checking in here and there when i can...the constant bombardments of snow storms have stopped work on my van, but work and a new puppy to train have taken up the time that the van had occupied for now...if there comes a break in the weather soon, will p...

Re: cruise control questions

it's on my long list of things to do, but i've looked into it on my '89...i'm lucky enough to have an '89 s-10 blazer with the 4.3 and cruise control for a donor, and after looking though a couple wiring diagrams and part #'s though alldata.com, i've found that the components should swap over to my ...

Re: removing hinge pins..rear doors 2003 astro

did this a couple months ago, and the easiest way i found was to use a hacksaw on the top grooves in the hinges, sawzall in the bottom grooves where the curve of the body doesn't interfere with the blade...removed the door and pound the pins out of the doors, then drill through the tops of the pins ...

Re: Mesh Style Wheels For Astro...

if you have a competant machine shop nearby, they should be able to re-drill the hubs and drums...nissan hardbody and older mazda mini-truckers have been having this done for years since there are few 6-lug rims that tuck inside the fenders, so they usually get them drilled to 5x4.75 or 5x4.5 to ope...
