Re: Transmission tilter & gasket kit
my 2000 has a deep pan. as far as i know, my 1995 has a shallow pan. everything i've read seems to indicate that 1997-up transmissions (around the time of the removable bellhousing) are when the deep and shallow pans came about. the deep pan measures about 2 7/8". the shallow pan measures about...

Re: transmission fitting question
it does make sense, zam.
i'm going to the pull a part junk yard in the morning to try and fish me out a radiator. the lower fitting is actually seized into the radiator, and i don't feel like messing with it.
i might try and pick up a couple more goodies too. we'll see what i find!

transmission fitting question
i found a leaking transmission fitting on my 95, and don't think it will come out of the radiator. had a hard time with it when i did the transmission lines a couple of years ago. i have a spare external cooler (factory 99+ chevy silverado tow package), and plenty of new style quick disconnect lines...

Re: Brake line and fitting sizes
i THINK that the line nuts do need to be re-used, at the abs module.
here's a heads up..... at the abs module, make a diagram of what line goes where! it saves a bunch of time trying to decipher where the lines go

Re: really dumb starting question....
so, like a year and a half later....... i forgot to update the board on what the problem wound up being! i pulled the plenum off and looked at the fuel lines where they hook into the regulator to discover that i didn't have the lock clip fully engaged. it blew apart under 60 psi of fuel pressure and...

Re: Rearend fluid
you'll need to buy 2 quarts, but you'll only use 1.5 quarts. the gm spec calls for 3.5 pints, or 1.5 quarts.

Re: Squealng Brakes
jim, i'm sorry. i've been too busy with other projects to dive back into the brakes, but so far i've had zero brake noise. i'm using napa safety stop brake pads and a re-machined set of factory gm rotors. so far, so good. one of my co-workers who has wrenched for 40+ years has told me that it is pos...

Re: Squealng Brakes
i just did brakes on my 2000 monday night. did you clamp the outboard brake pad to the caliper? that may or may not be a contributing factor. i've enclosed a sample photo of a rwd brake pad. see the folded back ears on the top of the brake pad? those are what need to be clamped down. i've always see...
