Astro Safari Lift Kits (what's available now?)

Hi guys not been around here for ages and see that there is a new title above my head! Well done whoever for keeping the dream alive! Just requiring some info please on the availability of lift kits now for the Astro or Safari vans. Mine was an Overland Vans kit (in Dan's Day) but guess the company ...

Re: 4.11 Diffs which one with a G80

Thanks for the reply Herbie, cost is a factor for me and I would also like to collect if possible from the Everett branch/factory! Two of these (front & rear) would cost a fortune back to the UK let alone the tax on top! So after you say OEM is quietest OTR, is that true? Anybody? Anybody runnin...

4.11 Diffs which one with a G80

Hi guys, long since been advised 4.10 or 4.11 diff ratios are the ones to go with when running 31 inch tires on my 98 AWD, so time to see what's what! The front appears easy found these on Amazon Yukon (YG GM7.2-411R) Then at the rear there is quite an array to choose from (different makes) and just...

Re: Real strange non starting '98'

Well thanks guys, safe to say now after running van for just over a week it was the coil! New one fitted and 'Way to Go'. So what has been learned? Just because bench testing says a part is fine, it isn't necessarily! Ha, what do I know? I was told that apparently on later OBD2 systems the coil can ...

Re: Real strange non starting '98'

Thanks for the replies, it may well be the coil! The latest is - With a now fully charged battery I have the same scenario, real healthy spark into the dizzy cap and even to the center terminal but nothing at the leads out to the plugs. So replaced the cap and rotor for a new set (have disregarded t...

Thanks,
The latest is now have a spark at HT into dizzy cap but none out to plugs (this a new dizzy complete?) So replaced new with old dizzy, alas the battery is to low to test properly so battery on charge see what we get tomorrow with a full charge battery.

Real strange non starting '98'

Day 1, Start cold van to set off for work, get 10 feet, engines dies.........no spark! Day 2, No codes found at all. A kind of elimination process after testing the coil in situ and all okay was to replace the crankshaft sensor and the distributor! Reason behind replacing the distributor was that th...

Front brake pad recommendations for an AWD with 31's

Hi all, my front brake pads are now in need of replacement and just wondering what make of pads folk were using on their AWD vans with 31 inch tires? Since the fitment of the larger tyres I have felt that the front brakes were struggling abit, especially under serious braking! Any benefit in using c...

Re: 98 non start

Ha, I sometimes wish I could remember stuff like not be a dummy and whilst you have the fuel tank out, why not turn it upside down and drain every last morsel of liquid out along with any other bits that might be lurking within. 'Just why did I not do that'! I know, just to keen to get the new pump ...

Re: 98 non start

LPG side has only just undergone a service (April). Filled the tank with LPG on day one of the misfire with the petrol.
Fuel system does have a nice new inline filter fitted.
I will have a look at cleaning the sensor.
Thanks for the input, I'll report back.

!

Cheers Dean, at least we were thinking the same. Latest update as of today. After a lengthy wait to fit the new 'Delco' fuel pump imported from your side of the pond (mainly rubbish weather, I didn't fancy crawling around in the wet and mud under the van) the new pump was fitted. Guess what? It had ...

98 non start

Hi chaps, Problem this weekend with the van starting! Its a 98 dual fuel petrol/ LPG. Day 1, really hard to get it to fire up, when it eventually did, it sounded like a bag of nails missing like crazy. Keeping it running on the throttle (it would die as soon as the pressure was off the pedal) I mana...

Re: Extended intermediate steering shaft ?

Well thanks for the swift reply but I think you have misunderstood the question.

See here http://www.overlandvans.com/0104_steering.html

top of the page, item ML - 47899 -LSS
I have this part, do I need to fit it to a 98 van with a 4" lift? The literature suggests 90 - 95vans.

Cheers
