Re: Astro camper van.....

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/dunedog/camper.jpg If I could get Matt or Peter to find me one of these up in Quebec,it would be my choice. They don't produce the top for the Astro/Safari size van anymore [-( did they increase the size (full sized van or suv) or down sized to mini van size (d...

Heading to NC, trying to clean house (and garage and RV....) prior to moving time. will be getting rid of as much as possible.... if you in the Cleveland, Ohio area, let me know what you might be interested in.... some red cloth bench seats, leather rear buckets and bench/bed (power, I think) front ...

Re: High tops

I'll keep looking in, and if I don't happen pick up this one, I'll keep an eye out for another.... besides the mileage issue, the lack of extra room is another issue I have with the astro/safari. another is the lack of hand room around the engine, I can't even imagine what people who swapped in V8's...

High tops

spotted a nice hightop conversion astro/safari at the pull a part on West 130th, didn't price it but was considering going down there and pulling it (depending on price, I was thinking $75 -$100 would probably get it) Any thoughts on how hard to remove and reinstall. and if anyone gets it before me,...

replacement panels

anyone know if anyone produces any fiberglass or plastic replacement panels for the astro/safari

Shaving some weight might increase the mileage a bit more.

Re: Prototype for the new Astro

cool pictures, and it could easily be mistaken for an Astro. It is a shame that GM ended the astro line.... one more of their many mistakes And I would like to think that if they kept making Astros or get smart and bring it back (which would be a no brainer, as shown by the fairly large following, s...

Re: New member - New purchase of second van question

no information, the newest I've owned is my current 2000, but hoping to work my way up to new model in a couple years.... especially 03-06 (four wheel disc brakes 6 lug 16in rims...) but I agree, depending on money difference and what you can afford.... go for the newest one, 10,000 miles is not eno...

Re: Navy grade Astro

You should be careful what you post as well. Peter WTF Does this mean? Jim probably just considered you might not have had permission to take photos on board, although considering it was just an interior parking lot, for the most part... more than likely not an issue... although some policies..... ...

Re: Need ideas for a Headliner Board

had a spare, but a buddy was doing a rat rod and I let him have the rear half of mine, which he cut to fit his needs.... Pull a part on the west side of Cleveland, must have crushed and sold most of their astros... as of last weekend, there was only 5 or 6 left that I saw, (one has nice high top, th...

Re: Overhead Console Display Inop

if you live close by (Cleveland, Ohio) I save the console from my 96 Safari before I scrapped it. was thinking about putting in my 94 high top Astro, but got rid of it as well.... three of them last year... I saved the front, and rear doors, the console, an extra set of mirrors and brake lightes and...

Re: Dutch door window latches

had a similar problem with the rear hatch on my 96 Safari.... it didn't have the keyhole for the hatch, instead relied on a release button on the dash..... a buddy voluntarily greased the little friction plates and then I had the oposite problem, my hatch wouldn't stay closed, so I ended up bunji co...

Re:

i think it would be helpful to say which way to go with the rod that doesnt move, its a bit hard to move by hand, but it goes up, and it helps if you push or pull the door to relive pressure on the mechanisms. I think its a good Idea to push or pull on the door before trying to use the handle (befo...
