Re: Jacking and Placing on Jack Stands

Sounds like everyone has you covered on where to place the jack stands but the hissing sound you hear while jacking up the van needs to be looked at. Is this happening when it reaches full extension or while going up ? Sounds like a seal gone or low on fluid or both and I'd check that out before go...

Jacking and Placing on Jack Stands

So I'm terribly afraid of this procedure. I have an AC Delco 2.5 ton floor jack, a set of 2 ton and a set of 4 ton jack stands. Here are my questions: 1. Is each jack stand capable of holding the amount mentioned? In other words, could the 2 ton set hold up to 8,000 lbs? Also, would it be foolish to...

Re: Tips on Changing Spark Plugs & Wires

Found it. Don't know how I did this, but I didn't get the #1 wire on the plug. It was tucked between the spark plug and whatever kind of metal heat shield is there. ](*,) Can't believe it. Couldn't help but say a prayer and thank the Lord for making it so easy on me. It's stupid stuff like that that...

Re: Tips on Changing Spark Plugs & Wires

So I stayed up until 2:00 finishing this job - plugs, wires, distr. cap, rotor - and my van's chugging. So here's my troubleshooting plan for now: 1. Confirm wires inserted over correct plugs. Primary concern is on the driver's side. Plugs are 1-3-5, but dist. cap (front to back) is 3-5-1. Make sure...

Stuck Tranny Dipstick

I regret to inform you that I don't recall ever examining the transmission fluid. And I can say for certain that I've never changed it. :withstupid: So when I went to check it the other day, it was stuck. I did unlock it. I'm afraid forcing it out may leave some unwanted debris that could cause seri...

Re: Tips on Changing Spark Plugs & Wires

Thanks for the tips. I'm amazed and thankful for how many there were! :prayer: I'm almost done (just #5). Saved the worst for last. I'm hoping to finish tonight.

Tips on Changing Spark Plugs & Wires

First I want to say what a relief it is to have come across your site. The people here are rather devoted. Not many people have Astros or Safaris, so it's been a bit difficult getting tips on things. I finally got the courage to change the spark plugs and wires. Spent the last 4.5 hours taking the e...
