Sounds awesome. Wish mine sounded like that. I got headers, 3" exhaust and 50 series and mine is still quiet. I've been told it sounds like a town car.phatmaxx87 wrote:Move over Peter. Time to make room for Vance.

We would take roofing tar and water it down with paint thinner. Not quite as clean as sugar beet refuse though.

Re: 97 Astro problem
Well, when the lockup is engaged it creates a physical link between the crankshaft and the driveshaft. It wouldn't kind of do it, its either on or off. It would be just like braking a car with a manual transmission and not pushing the clutch pedal in. It would jerk alot and stall. The computer does ...

Re: 97 Astro problem
Almost sounds like your torque convertor lockup is not disengaging. But if that was the case, the engine would stall too once you stopped or when you started moving again.

Re: 96' 383 build
Hello, new guy here. I was at work today and I had nothing to do so I was surfing the net and ran across this site. This thread interested me because several years ago I did this swap on a friends Astro van. It was similar to what's happening in this thread, I rebuilt a small block for him and inst...

Re: what can the stock astro beat?
the awd's are pretty full of torque off the line and can beat most anyone in an auto or with poor shifting skills, but they eventually fly past you. Oh come on, man. I love my van just like the next guy but these aren't drag cars. Anything with the 4.3L should just upgrade to the v8 and then have s...

You still have your speedo? I removed it for weight reduction.HPbyStan wrote:In a distance that my LS1 '98 Astro will peg the 105mph speedo, my stock '98 AWD 'Stro does 77mph as does my friends full size Ford Diesel van with a "chip" so at least you could tie one of those on speed anyway.

Re: How to swap out shifter?
I must be missing something here. Wouldn't you just knock out the pin, remove the old handle, insert the new handle and push the pin back in? No reason to operate on the steering column internally?

Re: engine ran rich and clogged my new catcon
I never replaced the 02 sensor because its like 45 months old. as for the cat con I am simply going to hollow it out and put it back on simply because its 3 months old and I am not rich. Although I may have to replace the 02 again . Well, here's the catch. If you clogged the cat because the engine ...
