2005 Stock Wheel Center Bore
Hi, everyone - I'm looking for the stock alloy wheel center bore diameter for my 2005 AWD Astro. I'm buying hub centric rings to fit some 16x8 take-offs from an early 2000's Chevrolet half ton pickup. No luck finding it by searching the forum. I think it's around 78 mm but the rings come in either 7...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
Yes that is exactly what my van was doing . What we have is a solitary vacuum line coming off the left valve cover that goes into a check valve then is split and goes into the firewall on that rubber fitting I mentioned above and another line that goes down to an actuator for the ac I believe . If ...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
I was having the same symptoms and it turned out the rubber fitting coming out of the firewall for the heater controls that has the two lines coming out of it was leaking between the two vacuum lines . It looked fine but on a whim I put some goop on there and it cured the problem. Good luck vacuum ...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
Sounds like you're tracking it down. I think I'm in need of a new cat two as I keep throwing a 420 code and the cat is rattling, seems to run fine tho. They say if it's rattling it needs to be replaced. I tapped mine with a rubber hammer this morning and didn't get any rattles. Also, I drove it aga...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
I seem to recall one on the '98 toward the rear of the drivers side valve cover. Yeah there are fittings in the valve covers, both sides, that are similar to those that used to be used for the PCV, but they have connections in them that don't look like the classical PCV valve. They have tubing that...

Re: 2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
Thanks, photo_van, I'll check that out. Any idea where the PCV valve is, or whether it even has one?photo_van wrote:One common problem (I had it) are the rubber vacuum lines at the solenoid tucked below and center of the heater motor in engine compartment.

2005 PCV Valve & Vacuum Issue
Finally got my 05 stock Astro running much better - replaced the extremely worn distributor with a new one and made a world of difference! But it still occasionally runs a little rough, throws the P0420 code, AND seems to have a vacuum problem. With A/C set on the "normal" setting (not Max...

Re: '05 AWD Astro Running Rough
Before you swap out anything else, go get yourself a couple bottles of GM Fuel System Treatment Plus. The P0300 is a fairly common occurrence with dirty injectors. I've had it on a few of my vans. (Currently hunting for my 8th Astro.) Regular fuel injector cleaner didn't cut it, but the heavy duty ...

Re: '05 AWD Astro Running Rough
I've now replaced the ignition coil and ignition control module. It made no difference in the way it runs. I bought a coolant temperature switch and throttle position sensor and will install them in a couple weeks. After reading more posts on this forum, I'm now beginning to suspect the O2 sensors. ...

Re: '05 AWD Astro Running Rough
Or what about a bad temp sensor? Can you run your scan tool in data collect mode while driving? Then it may show more sensor data. AP Unfortunately, I don't have a scan tool that's capable of real-time readout (yet!). I cleaned the MAF sensor and temp sensor again this morning, and am planning to p...

'05 AWD Astro Running Rough
Hi, All - I recently purchased an '05 AWD Astro that is bone stock with ~ 150K miles, and am in the process of making it reliable for use as a daily driver and adventure wagon. To date, I've done the following: Replaced spark plugs, plug wires, rotor and cap Cleaned mass air flow sensor with MAF cle...

Re: Hello from a new member
Thanks for the advice, guys! It looks like I scored an '05 8-passenger AWD with 147K miles on it last night. Seller, who is 2nd owner, is delivering it to me this afternoon. Some very minor cosmetic issues, but mechanically seems very good. I'm excited to get started on morphing it into the adventur...

Hello from a new member
Hi, everyone - I'm not currently an owner of an Astro or Safari, but am actively searching for one to buy. In my seemingly never-ending search for the perfect adventure vehicle that's affordable, capable of pulling a couple of motorcycles, hauling a couple of bicycles, pulling our small 17 ft. Casit...
