Re: Ka-Thunk goes the '04 AWD?
Thanks, Chasing an intermittent problem like this can be a real challenged or sure. Until our trip I had been chasing a vibration in the drive train. I now know it is coming from the front diff. I had checked the fluid level during our trip and found it to be low. I decided to buy some 85-140 gear o...

Re: Ka-Thunk goes the '04 AWD?
Capt'nC, It was happening after we were traveling at highway speed at 80mph no up shifting on a level highway, it continued to happen once we slowed to 60mph to exit the highway. Stovelander, No check engine light for us. As I mentioned, once I disconnected the lead for the TCCM going into the TC we...

Re: Ka-Thunk goes the '04 AWD?
Interesting.
If we are getting it to happen at highway speeds then it has to be a more common problem.
I am surprised more owners haven't posted it up about at least having herd about it.
I will most definitely post up if/when I find a remedy or cause.

Ka-Thunk goes the '04 AWD?
So we're heading home from Sedona on I75 north somewhere between Daytona and Toledo. We stop for a fill up and my wife takes over. Back on the highway and there is this Ka-Thunk that feels and sounds like we just drove over a big ass road seam. It happens 3 more times, I am thinking the rear end is ...

Re: A different way to lift our vans??
Hey guys. I've been thinking along these lines too, wondering about the 1500 Series running gear and what fits our vans. I want a lifted van with 31's but no way am I going to lift it and run those tires with the stock diffs. and transfer case. We're in Sedona right now, seeing so many lifted vans d...

Looking for drive train off road shop in Sedona.
Hi everyone. I am somewhat new here. I first joined back in the summer, posted some questions now and then and you were all very helpful. I haven't been on simply because life got in the way, and I really didn't have much to add. I am going to be in Sedona for the next few weeks and I am looking for...

Re: np136 vs np236
Wow, some really good proof of concept going on here. Thanks for posting all your findings, and for the advice of the 231. Last time I went down the rabbit hole of mods it ended up just being one mod upgrade after another sorting out the weak link. I read somewhere on this site that in 4lo the trann...

Re: Brog Warner/general TC questions?
Thanks for the response Cap'in. I have had jeeps before that I ran in 4hi all the time. Even did a 3month stint with 4hi engaged with a Power Locker in the front diff. I blew the rear pinion out of it wheeling and was too broke to have a new gear set installed. It had 40" Mickeys and Dana 44's ...

Brog Warner/general TC questions?
This is bit long, sorry. Trying to make a decision on what direction to go. I just found a guy selling a complete 1998 Safari with 187k miles on it for $600. Considering buying it for the Borgwarrner TC, engine/tranny and assorted bits and pieces. Being new to this area of AWD/4WD and the Borg Warrn...

Re: Rear Spring Lift Question.
Thanks Captn C for the feed back. The rear is always the easy part. I have read many of your posts (very informative stuff man) and seen the photos of the flipping of the ball joints. Steering shaft, tranny lines, brake lines, rad hoses, flex lines, exhaust. I really need to get this thing up on a h...

Thanks Aaron. Totally the way to go! Will be doing this to mine. Love how these vans look with the lifts and bigger tires.
