AWD Driveshaft transfer case yoke has a steel disc

On my 2004 AStro AWD the drive shaft slip yoke has a steel disc. I need a new driveshaft and it is complicated to replace that part. GM does not sell the driveshaft anymore.
Dose anyone know what will happen if I use a regular yoke without this inertia disc?

Has anyone had to change the oil pan on a AWD 2004 Astro? It seems that the front diff must be lowered. Tips will be appreciated.
