I would guess it's the temperature sensor since it's next to the thermostat.

Again , electrical schematics are in the service info link I gave you. Maybe you bought a pump assembly without the level sensor? If yes you'll have to take it off the old one.

Put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail and measure key-on pressure and leakdown.
