Re: 1991 gmc safari dies randomly due to stereo?
How old is the battery and have you put a multimeter on the battery while it off and while it is running to see what kind of charge your alternator is putting out?

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
coaxed 21mpg out of the van today, with about 175 miles of fairly well behaved driving in rural Arkansas. I highly doubt that I will repeat that tomorrow, as I will be heading home with my foot in it!

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Starting out with about 60 miles on the tank of gas before I left today, and a cumulative starting average MPG of 15.3, after driving about 220 miles more and topping off, total cumulative MPG was 19.6. Very happy about that. I am convinced I can coax a 20+ MPG out of it, if I behave myself, as pure...

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Yesterday, I finally retrieved the license plates from the buyer of my truck, so that I could put them on the new Astro, then I cleaned the wheels and tires. The raised white letters were nearly as black as the sidewalls and the chrome wheels were very dingy. It's amazing what kind of a difference c...

Re: New Member - SWMO
I wound up selling my Astro around June, 2011, in favor of a 1937 Ford 2 door sedan, as my daily driver. Drove the sedan for 9 months, sold it and bought a F150 that I drove for the past year and sold last week. I have a deal negotiated on a 2000 Astro, with 83,000 miles on it! The current owner inh...

Re: Unflip a flip kit!
Before unflipping, I would try adjusting to the lowest set of holes in your shackles. By lowering the spring in them, it should give you a slight lift. I don't know how much is there, but I would estimate an inch to an inch and a half. That may be enough to do what you need.

Re: chopped seat risers?
got too busy to mess with it last weekend. I found a donor set, at the local boneyard, but haven't made it over there to pick them up yet.
I want to yank the driver's seat out, and set it on blocks to decide the right height. From that point, I will have a better direction on the slice and dice.

Of all the '57 cars, a '57 Ford 2 door wagon is my fav. That is a sweet one! I almost bought a '57 delivery, a few years back. Still kick myself for not snagging it when I had the chance.
