Hi everyone, I know, it's been long time.
We need a new van.
Vancouver Island or on the L/M, the newer the better. Low milage is better still.

Re: Welcome back Peter
Took me a little while to find it but if your talking about Old Coyote's Anglia, then that's quite a different vehicle all together.

Re: Welcome back Peter
It's an 1172cc, side valve 4 cylinder with a three speed transmission. The speedometer has a red line at the 30 mph mark. Can't imagine why. :-k Parts and information won't be a problem Gary. Not only has the owner of this van been rebuilding these vans and pickups for years, he was involved in the ...

Re: Welcome back Peter
That looks like the perfect place for a 4.3... and maybe an astro rear axle....
Funny you should say that, as this one and many other's have been repowered/customized with 4.3's. I am just such a huge fan of chevy big blocks that it will be a sad day if I have to choose to use an eng...

Re: Welcome back Peter
Oh definately a hotrod.
I'll have a better idea when I get it home, but I would like a big block in it.
I haven't seen to many of them hotrodded but this one looks pretty cool.

Re: Welcome back Peter
A hybrid or electric van could be done, but what a lot of work. Lightening everything so as to compensate for the weight of the batteries would take a lot of forethought, or a lot of vans. Maybe a small reactor would work. :muhaha: Out here on the Island we don't have AirCare so we can still build w...

Re: Engine stall on highway - couldn't restart.
This sounds familiar, in that I had an MSD 6a running a bbc when the ignition box itself failed.
The resulting explosion, destroyed a faily new set of Cherry Bombs and bent a valve.
If you had a intake manifold explosion, check for a vacuum leak at the intake manifold.

Re: Predict gas mileage-A formula??.
I moved two years ago. When I moved out of my place in East Sooke I had all this "good stuff" I needed to put into storage for a while until I could find another house. When we bought our house and started moving in, all of this "good stuff" seemed to be junk all of a sudden. You...

Re: Predict gas mileage-A formula??.
I did miss that, sorry Gary. I too looked into a 427 TD when I did this 454 build. I found that there are not too many after market parts available. You need to use spacers on a SD intake manifold or you have a very limited selection of TD manifolds. Also, try to find a distributor at a decent cost....
