Re: Got an Idea, Maybe.....

No I did not pull the trans. - I traded the whole van minus the wheels/tires for parts at a local parts yard. I do a lot of business with them and they know the trans is new and will sell it. I tried for two weeks and no one wanted it and I had to get the van gone quick because I did not have any pl...

Re: Got an Idea, Maybe.....

Well I Scrapped the van te other day after I found coolant in the oil. The van just wasn't worth repairing anymore and my wife was really frustrated so I sold the new tires and traded the van for credit at a local scrap yard (I have several other projects that I'm in need of parts for) . I'm not sur...

Re: Factory fuel pump or generic external pump replacement???

I did it the proper way and dropped the tank becausue I couldn't see the top of the tank clear enough to cut a hatch. I was tempted to put a hatch in while the tank was out but at that point the job was half done and I wanted to be done with it 8-[

Re: Got an Idea, Maybe.....

Well I had to replace the fuelpump and filter tonight as it went ka-put earlier in the day. Got it done, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. While I was in the shop I took some time to take a closer look at how the van is constructed and took a few measurements. I am even more inclined to pursue...

Re: Factory fuel pump or generic external pump replacement???

I put an inline frame mounted pump on my tbi - 'burban. It was a unit from Holley and it was noisy - never had a problem with it. I had already replaced my in tank pump twice and wasn't interested in doing it again. I have to replace the pump in my Astro now - I'm headed over to the shop to work on ...

Re: Summit racing sent this SEMA Alert

Well if my discretionary income goes down to fund this type of proposal I wont be buying many aftermarket goodies... But I understand your point, SEMA cant go out and take the type of politcal position on a bailout the way I can. Their focus has to be the immeadiate intrest of the automotive hobbiest.

No problem, I've gone back and forth on just how I felt about this until I actually read it. SEMA's letter does not adress some of the bigger issues related to this proposal.

Re: Summit racing sent this SEMA Alert

Here is the text of the proposed bill. It is very much a part of the stimus package being proposed. It is not just about removing old cars from the road but creating an artificial market funded by the tax payers for the benifit of companies producing vehicles in the USA. The conditions are very spec...

Re: Summit racing sent this SEMA Alert

OK I have read the proposal and I dont like it, It is not a strait cash for clunker program. There are some requirements and conditions and not everyone qualifies for participation. The premis is to help bail out the auto industry but forces them to sell cars instead of just recieving a handout. So ...
