The Smurf thing?!
First off, I had no idea what this was about. Finally I googled it, terms Astro and Smurf. I came up with this:
http://smurfs.wikia.com/wiki/Astro_Smurf_(character)
Thanks it, isn't it?!

Re: Tips and Tricks
For reinstalling bolts you can't reach with your hands, dip the end of your socket in grease, then insert the bolt. using extensions on socket, replace bolt.
I've heard if you can fit a kitchen magnet in the socket, it also works.

How searchable are we?
It's true. There are 2 ways to be found on the internet. One is advertise. The other is to found via a search engine. So, I googled "Chevy Astro forum" and then "Chevrolet Astro forum." We weren't on the first 3 pages of either search. Then I googled "Chevy Astro won't start...

Fuel Pump - Fuel Sender Assembly - Replacement Procedure
If you plan on keeping your Astro or Safari van, one thing is certain. Your fuel pump will eventually die. This has happened to me once with my previous 98 Astro at 138,000 miles, and more recently with my 03 Astro at about 122,000 miles. The 98's fuel pump used to hum loudly. The 03's really didn't...

Re: Quick question for fuel pump replacement
I only cut 2 lines. They had kinked and discolored at the area they kinked anyway. I figure the extra money wasn't such an issue considering what I'm saving doing this myself...

Re: Transmission Oil
It is not difficult at all. It's really just a pain with all of the bolts you have to remove--I reverted to using an air rachet for this purpose... If and when I do one again, I'll do it if no one beats me to it--frankly I suspect my tranny may be on the way out though... But if your doing this befo...

Tank's out: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2548/3854015163_4ee74a4c33_b.jpg?v=0 No Snap Ring as far as I can see--really rusted though. Got to wonder if those things are crimped down to make it more difficult. I used PB Blaster and beat the he!! out of that retainer... :banghead: Still in there... h...

Quick question for fuel pump replacement
I have just a quick fuel pump replacement question--for those who have done this job. My GM shop manual says to use a GM fuel sender wrench to get the fuel pump out--do I really need this tool, or will a brass drift and a mallet work?
Thanks!
Thanks!

a little slow
Is it just me or are things getting a little slow in here? How many of us are taking advantage of that cash for clunkers deal? How many have traded Astros or Safaris under this program?

Re: Anyone think the Astro is just a little too BIG?
Truthfully, I find them to be about 12" too short... An extra 12 inches behind the seats would be awesome.
I also really wish they put these on a real full frame and never sold them with anything but a 3:73 rear end...
