Difference between 4L60E in Chevy V8 truck and Astro 4L60E?
Dumb question. Is there a difference between the 4L60E in a Chevy V8 truck and those found in our Astros? People on ebay are saying the ones out of Yukon and 1500 only fit those specific size V8 engines...

Re: Tranny Replacement Questions
So, will any 4x4, 4L60E tranny work (like out of a Blazer or S10)?

Re: Hey all
You definitely came to the right place. The folks here are awesome. They've helped me out a few times, but I've yet to develop the nerve to do what you're doing--Cool! Another engine swap. Take lots of pictures. Yah , I just have to find a put put car so I can pull the Safari apart... As a suggestio...

Re: What style are you?
There was once when I was certain that I was going to have my Astro lifted, on 33" tires, with a 4 - 5 leaf spring assembly, a real 2 speed manual 4WD transfer case and Ford 4:10 or Chevy 3:73 differentials. I would have completed this with a front winch... But, I do like the stock configuratio...

Re: Tranny Replacement Questions
Oh, I already have the factory service manual--it's a 2 volume set. $135 from helminc. That said, it's got nothing on the procedures I've been writing, so I was hoping there was a post out there that explained how the job the is done in real life without tool J-XYZ. If I do end up doing this, I gues...

Car Front Strut Replacement (shown on 07 Cobalt)
I asked folks here how to do this and was given some help a while back. I finally worked up the nerve to actually do it. I'm putting this in the off-topic section, because it's not a repair you'd do on a Astro. However, many if not most on here own a passenger car in addition to their van. Most of t...

Tranny Replacement Questions
My 03 AWD Astro will eventually need a tranny repair--probably sooner than later. I intend to remove and replace. Got questions. First, will any 4x4, 4L60E tranny work (like out of a Blazer or S10)? Second, does anyone know of a procedure they can point me to for 4L60E removal and replacement? Thank...

Ignition Coil Replacement Procedure (shown with 2003 Astro)
I don't know how to tell when your ignition coil is on the way out. It may start with power decreases as mine did. But it will eventually fail. You could be procrastinator and wait like me, then end up doing it at the most inopportune time possible. My advice would be to do it when you do the spark ...

Engine Cover Removal Procedure (Shown with 2003 Astro)
The removal of your van's engine cover is kind of like opening the hood of a passenger car. Just pull the latch and pop open—no, wait. This is reality. Okay, I won't lie to you. It's such a pain that the first time I had to figure out how to do it I almost traded the Astro on a truck. But for many r...

What and where is A.G. Forum on here?
There was a thread here today that I'd have really liked to have participated in but it got locked up too quickly, with a suggestion that it go into some A.G. Forum. At least I had fortune of reading the post and viewing a video linked in it, for which I am glad. What is this AG Forum and where migh...

Re: Trucks, years mid 90s to more current
Yes, I realize that. But anything from the 80s is likely suffering frame cancer and will spend more time in my garage than on the road. Also, have bolts that aren't all rusted and frozen is a huge help. That's why I don't want to go any further back than say 13 or 14 years--preferably 10 or 11... I ...

Trucks, years mid 90s to more current
In your opinion who made the easiest to repair full sized truck? Some vehicles are a dream to work on, others are a nightmare. I've owned both in cars, but I want a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck. One of the things of greatest importance to me is ease of repair. I'm not necessarily giving up on Astro, just ge...

Re: Power Decrease
I was just down the mountain again today. It didn't make sense to kill my van on the way back up, so I hit advance and swapped out the MAF in their parking lot. Problem mostly solved... A little birdy later told me that KN filter oil could have simply fouled up the sensors...did I just wast $130?! ]...
