Front diff swap

So here they are, my trusty rusty 99 test mule and my new 03, side by side for the last time. I swapped over the Torsen equipped cast iron front diff and tossed in a new set of remanufactured axles. I wanted to swap over the Detroit axles also but the 03’s got upgraded axles to go with the six lug h...

Re: Oh boy, engine won't rev.

I tend to agree with timeless on this, I doubt you suffered a major component failure. I would lean more toward computer/sensor issues such as the engine control module which is one item that ties both the engine and tranny together electronically. If you can drive it to a mechanic or an autozone th...

Re: Hate to be right but... am I right?

Here’s all the pieces. Some minor damage but a little fiberglass repair or good duct tape and super glue should take care of it. PM me your shipping address and we can talk turkey

Re: Front end rebuild...am I crazy?

You would be “ hard pressed” to find a piece or part that has not been addressed here on this site. Most folks that have done control arm bushings have resorted to the smoke wrench ( torch ) to facilitate removal. A 20 ton press will indeed be helpful. Torsion bars are simple with the van in the air...

Re: Hate to be right but... am I right?

Portland Maine not Oregon. His mom would never let her baby get that far away from her on his first foray into the world! It’s still a six hr drive so I’m really gonna feel it in fuel economy loss When I go tall on the tires but what the hell these things suck mileage wise no matter what especially ...

Re: Hate to be right but... am I right?

Happy Father’s Day to you as well. Coolest job I ever had, well maybe the time I was security for exotic dancers but I digress. Had my first kid at forty so I get to go from proud grad dad to retired in the same week. Oh wait you want to go to college WHERE!?! Ok retirements back on the shelf. Let’s...

Re: Hate to be right but... am I right?

No problem I’ll get busy pulling parts. The housing and whatnot won’t be a problem. You just replaced the blower motor so do you want a spare? I can’t pull the ac compressor as I still need to be able to start the van and move it. It’s graduation week so it may be next week before I can dedicate any...

Re: S10 front axle swap

I know this is an old thread but I’d just like to clarify that GM did pair the two piece axle and the np236 transfer case so clutch pack wear shouldn’t be an issue

Re: 7.5 " 10 bolt Chevy 98 to 2002 rear axle

Hi, Saw a you tube video of G80 Torson type gear limited slip rear axle being OEM in Chevy Camero. So Astro posi was Eaton with friction plates. Supposedly, friction plates are quieter and may corner better but Torso is stronger? AP It seems that G80 meant different things in different vehicles. G8...

Re: Hate to be right but... am I right?

I’m junking my 99. Make a list of what you need and I’ll put it all in a box. Also you need to be wary of rubber tubing when dealing with vacuum. It can collapse on itself. They used that hard plastic for a reason
