Yes, that is the thermostat for the engine. Unless you are building a purpose built race van, stick with stock on a daily driver. The absolute easiest is to stick to the same year full sized van for the donor. Keeps the same cooling, fueling, transmission, etc. Depending on where you live same year or newer could be the only option. Something electrical is heating up and failing. I would start with testing crank/cam sensors and the ICM.


When the pressure gauge was fluttering, was there misfiring happening, how was the idle?
