I was digging through my garage of parts and came across this old poster from SEMA from years ago. Enjoy.

Also got some new calipers from Wilwood for the front. Should stop alot better with dual pistons and the monoblock design should reduce some unsprung weight.

I can are the light at the end of the tunnel. Skip I'm gonna hit you up once I get it back for those r&p parts. Already bought the rack. Just waiting for a van to put it on lol. Pics soon, promise.

Ok guys so I went by the body shop and i'm happy to report we are getting real close. The drivers side taillight area is smooth and looking good. The body line above it has been worked along with the gap along the door edge.

Body lines looking good here.

Image

Here's another shot along with the new rear door that has been shaved smooth too.
Image

Passenger side is starting to take shape and is the only real major bodywork left from what I can tell.
Image

My friend Kunal at Future Auto Body even smoothed out the roof dents I told him not to worry about. (there is an upside to having your friend do the work)
Image

His dad and him even pulled the rear quarter glass without damaging the rubber trim around them and pulled the frame slightly to correct the gap at the rear of the sliding door. It was off from a small accident from the previous owner.

I can't wait to get some color on this thing!

ok guys I know its been a while but we are getting real close. Unfortunately my friend that is doing the paint and bodywork has been crazy busy with school. I cant really bitch since hes hooking me up cheap and is doing a good thing to better himself. Anyway he only has a lil work left and then we can paint. Yay! So to get ready for the post paint reassembly I have started some of the smaller projects needed to complete this thing. First up is the corner lights. Originally I got clear ones since I was going with a silver bottom half. Since I decided to go with charcoal grey instead I thought a smoked set would look better. So I took the factory set and checked them out. They look pretty good at first glance.
Image
But upon closer inspection you can see the dingy look of the lenses and the unsightly letters that do nothing more than trap dirt and wax. They will have to go. Pet peeve of mine. A little sanding and will fix that.
Image
To ensure god light output and to update the look of the lighting I am going to add truflex led strips inside the lenses. I plan on doing six on each side evenly distributed throughout the height of the lens.

as you can see they are plenty bright. This is just one inside the housing just dangling, not even against the lens. The will be at half power while running lights and full power when blinking. What do you think?

I know most of you guys could care less but like I said before the markings on the lenses drive me crazy. They are just wax collectors. So I started cutting acces holes in the side of the lenses and started sanding off the markings. I also noticed that the 1st gen lenses are ribbed and i decided to eliminate those ribs as well, for a cleaner and more modern look. I started by drilling holes for the side access to insert the leds.
Image

Next I cut the pieces out with an airsaw.

Image

Here you can see the letter starting to go along with the raised ribs in the lens.

Image

This is a during shot that shows the letters and ribs starting to disappear. I also decided to even out the ridge along the outside of the lens.

Image

Heres a comparison of where I started and about halfway through he process.

Image

Gonna try to get them finished this week before I fly out of town but we'll see. More pics soon. This build thread is back from the dead.

I sanded the lenses with 180 grit, then 220 and ill finish off with some 400 before I smoke the lenses.
So here you can see what the 180 grit does.
Image
It took me about an hour and a half on each lens at 180 to make it all smooth. The 200 went pretty quick after the initial sanding.
this is after 200.

Image

Also got my buddy Kunal to get the last little bit of body work finished up. Hoping to have the body in primer by the 1st of the year.

I can't wait.
