NP 233 spline count appears to be 32 in and out

Post by WE7X »

I recently found a NP-233C out of a rolled Blazer. It came attached to the transmission and was too cheap to pass up.
The conversion postings indicate I want a 32 spline input and a 27 spline output. I discovered I have the 32 spline output version. I am now wondering if is just a matter of changing to the correct slip yoke on the drive shaft, or am I overlooking something.
I can probably still get the drive shaft that was in that donor, so I would have the necessary part if needed for that easy swap. Another option ( but still not expensive) would be to take the drive shaft to a re-builder and have the whole assembly rebuilt to a 'unique' configuration.

Yes, you can most certainly change the slip yoke if necessary

If by Blazer, you mean S-10 Blazer, then the doner vehicle also has the same 7.2 front diff. If you go back for the front prop shaft you can take measurements of yours before you go. If the shafts are the same length take the Blazer front diff yoke also. Then you can simply swap yokes and good to go

Thanks,
Somehow I missed the reply, and just found it.
It had not occurred to me that it might not have come from an S-10 Blazer. I had forgotten about the bigger versions' but the fellow I got it from had a couple of nice older 2WD Astros in his yard. I was sure he said it was the correct one for the Astro AWD's, and he did not have a use for it since he only has 2WD, and mostly was just looking for the motor from the donor car.
All the other pieces are now gone, so i cannot go back for more, if needed.
