Control arm bushing replacement in Vancouver, BC

Post by Tegnus »

I am looking at rebuilding front end of 2003 Chevy Astro AWD in near future and replacing existing bushings with decent quality MOOG bushings. It appears that nobody sells lower/upper control arm assembly with MOOG bushings.

As I know there are quite a few members from Vancouver, BC area, I was interested can anybody suggest a good shop that would do it (just replace bushings in lower/upper control arms)? And what would be the $ amount that I should be looking at for this job?

Any machine shop can press out and install new bushings, or are you talking removing control arms and reinstalling as well?

No, I am ready to do remove/install myself, as I will be going to indexed torsion keys and changing ball joints as well.

If you are that mechanically inclined, You could just buy a cheap press from 'Princess Auto' or similar, for about 200 bux.
Works great for changing U-joints too.

^ We're on the same page, I was going to say Harbor Freight 12 ton press for $130 but didn't know the Canadian equivalent. :D

Don't forget about a torsion unloading tool as well.

I have seen that done on youtube, but some say it's not a very bright idea...
