235/85/R16

Post by RINNY »

I am having a little rub on the sub frame at full turn with the 235/85/R16's on H2 rims. I don't want to use spacers so my question is what off set do I need to make the tires work? I already did all the surgery to make the wheel wells work, actually was not that bad. still have a little to go on the inner plastic fender, just waiting till it gets warmer. Might not have to touch it with the correct offset.

Do you mean H3 wheels? If so, they are probably 38mm offset and '03-'05 six lug Astro wheel offset is 31mm so the Hummer wheels are 7mm closer inboard. On stock 16x7 wheels with 245/75-16, I get a just a touch of rub at full lock but not enough to really be concerned with.

Obviously, you're looking for wheels with less offset, not more to push the wheels out away from subframe. Most aftermarket wheels with have less offset.

This is a handy comparison tool:

The rims are hummer 6 bolt rims. I guess they are H3's. Glad you said less offset because I was thinking more, lol, DUH. Now I see (said the blind man). Thanks.

No problem. I've been considering 1" - 1.25" hubcentric bolt on spacers for some time to widen the track a bit to offset the lift somewhat. With quality hubcentric spacers I don't see there being any issue as I prefer factory wheels over aftermarket.

I have 1" spacers but don't really want to use spacers? I think the center hole on them is bigger than the lip also. Do you have a source for 1" hub centric spacers for 6 lug hubs? If they are hub centric I might go that route for now.
