2021 Forum Updates

Hello folks. Just a quick update:

I finally got around to updating the forum software. We are now powered by the bleeding edge of forum technology

I also discovered that incorrect email settings were the cause of the errors when private messaging, and starting new posts. I fixed that as well. So you should all be having a buttery smooth forum experience now. If you notice any issues, please let me know!

I have more improvements in store, so stay tuned.

You should now see a "thumbs up" icon in the button toolbar on every post (except your own). It's a convenient way to agree with, or show your gratitude for a post that you found helpful.

I have added more functionality. You can now copy+paste almost any kind of link and the content will be embedded directly into your post.
Just use the media embed button.

Examples:
- Youtube video
- Tweet
- Facebook post.
- News article
- Google document
- Imgur link

I have installed additional color schemes for you to choose. Maybe something a little darker would be easier on the eyes?

To change it, hit your user picture in the top corner, select 'User Control Panel', and then 'Board Preferences'.

I have managed to revive the old tech gallery. Looks like some helpful photos in there.
Click "Tech Gallery" in the main bar at the top of the page.

I have installed a "mention" system.
This is useful when you want to draw a user's attention to a post.

To use it:

• type the '@' symbol and start typing the username. A menu will appear with matching users.
• You can then use your arrow keys or mouse to select the name you want.
• Submit your post
• The user will get a mention alert in their notifications. Clicking on the notification will take them straight to the post where you mentioned them.

As you can tell from the new banner, the forum expansion has begun.

I have registered a new domain name for the forum: chevygmcvans.com
The old URL will continue to work until the contract expires. I'll decide at that time whether to renew or not.

New sections have been added to the forum as well, for Express/Savana and Legacy (G series etc.) vans.
Please post any helpful information you can share for these new sections. It will help kick-start the community growth.

I have also added a new Files link to the navigation menu at the top. There you should find owner's manuals, brochures and things of that nature. Please post in Feedback or contact me if you have any material to add.

The full-size vans are in active production, which should ensure a steady flow of new members.
Spread the word to other forums and social media.
