For those who remember Socalli v8

Post by astrozam »

Not sure which old school members are still around but for anyone who remembers Socalli v8 ( Darren Cole ) we have sad news to share that he passed away back in April of 2023, I couldn't see any other posts about this so thought I'd share it here.

New but not really

Some of you may remember me from the old site years ago. My user name was The Rebel from Alabama. Am now in Florida which by the way is 102° at the moment. Some may remember my build. 89 Astro 350/350HP, 700r, shaved gas filler, shaved door handles, shaved slider door, Cad Tail lights, rollpan and 89 Corvette rear suspension and Mustang GT rack and pinion.
My main reason stopping in was to let any old timers know that Darren Cole (SoCalliV8) passed away in April. Darren was building his v8 powered Astro with Cad tail lights and gullwing slider door and much more. He will me missed by many and was a true Astro hotrod builder. He always called his Astro slutty due to it's white primer. There never was a reason to paint it because something new popped weekly to be done or modified.
You will be missed my friend.

R.I.P.
Sad news for all vanners when such experience and knowledge is lost.
'93 Safari shorty, 350 swap
'05 Astro AWD, lifted, 6 liter, cammed, ported and programmed for fast.
'69 G10, straight 6, 3 onatree, jumped at me when I had a pocketful of cash looking for a spare astro. :)
