In summary I agree with mmusicmans viewpoint it is absurd to have the AC compressor running constantly with recirc function.

I like his solution of having a compressor cut off switch. He has had zero issues with the solution so I see no downsides to having that control.

it's 100 % logical and not absurd at all.
As I said, disable it at your peril. A couple of ounces of fuel is not worth replacing the AC system. As an engineer you should also understand that refrigerant lubricates the system.
