My 2001 AWD Safari is booked for an emissions test on Feb 26. She's pure stock but getting old. The shop guy suggested I run ethenol mix gas for 1 month prior to the test. Thus, obtain better test numbers. And if lucky, a "pass without any immediate repairs" - like before. Is running Ethenol Mix gas before "the test" good advice? Just wondering...
thanks

I was told getting my beauty sleep was a waste of time.

Re: Future emissions test - good advice???
My local emissions test guy sees a lot of vehicles and always ask if they did anything to help pass the test. He has found no item to work other than actual service/repair work. No magic chemicals or pills.
Except, for me to install a new ACDelco O2 sensor to pass after a test failure.

Locatate your favorite smog shop a couple days before and call them to make sure their smog tech comes in at 8 am or Also ask them if you need to remove the dog house, (it might not be necessary on the later models) they will charge and extra $20 if they have to remove the dog house, (you could remove it your self any way when you are doing your last tune up so you know how to do it. whatever, then on the wonderful day ...get up early and
Make sure you run the rig hard for 20 to 30 minutes and get the motor real warm.
then go right into the smog check place early in the morning so they can test it imediatley.
In fact I often open all the windows, drive in the smog shop pull right up to service bay and leave the motor running while I fill out the paper work.
At least with the AWD you don't have to worry about them making you put the rig on the dyno as they do in California for older cars.
Good luck
Astrophysics.
