besides the less filter media Fram also tends to have a crappy anti-drainback valve which is why I use the Delcos.

I've read that study plus others, and it certainly makes a person think twice about using Fram.

But then I've got a lot of miles in many different vehicles, almost always using Fram products, without a failure.

So I don't know.

I try and buy Purolator filters now, but I can tell you I just put a Fram back in my Super Duty.....

Interesting. VERY interesting. I would love to see each of the filters/assorted equipment fitted with a see through housing and run for a while. That could definitely add to the fun, but as the guy said he has no money for that!

Yeah, me too. Maybe thats why my lifters tap on start up after sitting a few days. I kind of see why some balk with that fellows expirement.

Walmart has Fram, and is convenient. Maybe I'll try an AC Delco or WIX and see if the lifter noise ceases after sitting.

Thanks for the input!

Jeez, nothing like reading stuff you can't begin to comprehend. I need the "www.bobistheoilguy.com" for dummies or something I guess.

It is actualy very infomative, and a good read. Thanks man!

Yeah, that was a good site. Talk about information overload! Seeing Fram, Wix and Hastings filters cut open sitting on the counter of my local auto parts store was an eye-opening experience. I was shocked to see the Fram's cheap construction. While the Wix filter had metal ends on the filter element inside the can, the Fram had cardboard. The filter media inside the Fram looked really flimsy as well. I don't think I bought a single Fram filter ever again. I don't think the Hastings Densite filters are available anymore. They used a different type of filter media, not pleated paper.

i use wix simply because of the metal end caps, and the silicone drainback valve.
