brake-light in dash is on??

brake-light in dash is on??

hey everybody,

since yesterday my BRAKES-light stays on.
if i step on the emergency-brake it becomes brighter?
i checked the fuses, but they're all ok...

Anybidy got an idea, what's wrong.

First thing to check is that the e-brake is released all the way. Then you will need to look at the brake fluid reservoirs and make sure there is enough fluid in them.

Chris, as Dean said, check your brake fluid level if low you may have a leak in your brake system (rear wheel cylinders and the master cylinder are the most common)

I just dealt with that issue. It was the proportioning valve.

Sorry about that but my crystal ball is broke and that's the only way I have to fix cars over the Internet, Just joking. The reason the year of the van is so important is that along with where the van is stored, location, and the condition of the van, age are determining factors. Mostly a 04 Astro probably wont have a Parking brake cable too tight that the switch wont close or open depending on the year. Forgive me for being so rude but, what if you had a Yugo and you just forgot to mention that that was the vehicle you had a question about.

Check the front resevoir, then get under there and check for leaks found this out last summer,lol
