ignition problems....

Post by 91AWDAstro »

Well looks like the ig module is ok. Still have occasional restart problems and it fell flat on it's face again when I steped on it this afternoon once. I think it's time for a new distributer. Since this one is the orginal from the 350 that had 150k on it.

Chris,
Just think about how many 350's that have tons more miles than 150k and are still running ok.

Skip Whites in Tn. has a nice billet HEI and a few others, you can't beat the price. I ordered one about a year ago and no problems but did have to shim it. Was sitting to high on the intake. I know a few others from here have these also.

Well let me be more to the point. Are you sure it is not a fuel on demand del'ery problem??.Just because you might have the pressure up to the TBI that you should, doesn't mean it's getting in the engine like it needs to on a WOT.

It doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while. Won't restart and if it does it's really hesitant to stay running unless you give it the gas. It's only done the hesitation on acceleration twice since I've had the swap done. Last time I diagnosed it it wasn't getting fuel during cranking. As you know the ECM needs to see a signal from the ing to fire the injectors. Since it ws mainly a problem during cranking I figured it was the distributer. When it does do it if you let it sit and try again a few minutes later it will start. It could even be in the TBI even though it's new. I've had new parts with problems before.

I hate intermittant problems! I've got to go back through the posts I know that there are others that have had the same issues. It's one of those problems that can be serveral things.

Well it seems I may have found my problem. Thought I'd post this link for anyone else who may have similar trouble.
