Oh petey...I think I found a mistake in your little narrative. Didn't you blow the from CV at Logan's? Well, you said it happened in Pa whereas Logan and Mandy live 30 miles from Columbus Ohio..... :-k :-k :poke:
You do have a nice van, if only mine had been AWD ](*,)

Very well done, Peter. You can be proud of your van. I'm known, in my circle, as being a bit insane about having things done right. You sure did this one right. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!! \:D/

Just in case anyone is wondering, it's not Grumpy. I know, I know, you all are incredibly let down. I'm sure justice will eventually see the error of his ways. :muhaha:

It's not Grumpy? You kidding me here? Racism, I tell ya. Racism, discrimination, bipartisanismification....the whole kit'n caboodle! How could your truck NOT win for the May edition? You did change the oil like you said, right? :muhaha:

Thanks to all. And looking back, I am proud as a peacock of what I accomplished. I drive a daily-driven, fully computer-controlled 502 Ramjet-equipped GMC Safari. And all my accessories work. All of 'em. But being able to spend the $25k that it took to build this machine definitely helped.
On that note, I salute all those who've swapped over to a V-8 on a limited budget and finished up with a reliable, daily-driven vehicle. You're the guys who were an inspiration to me :supz:

Oil change, oil change....hmmm that's on my list of things to do somewhere, but I did just add 2 Quarts yesterday.

I currently am waiting on two fuel pumps. Green is hiding in the garage with its tank down around its wheels and Grumpy is getting Grumpier. Really questioning my sanity about driving it to work tomorrow. I'm gonna go check its fuel pressure in just a bit.

ok im new to the site and i gotta say peter i love your van it is truly amazing and im proud to say the only guy crazy enough to put a 502 big block in a safari is a canadian. as for trying to find someone to show your van to i have done that numerous times again as i am known as kind of a safari lover in my small town since im only 22 and am on my third safari and dont wanna drive anything else. i gotta ask one thing as your van is a daily driver would we be able to get some km to litre ratings. as i was writing this i just realized something did you make tramper out of the same van you used to mock up the engine fit?

I get about 11-12 mpg city (24L/100km) and about 14 mpg highway (20L/100km
Strangely enuf, towing the Tramper to the annual NECO Campouts doesn't really hinder my highway gas mileage all that much, if any.
And yes, the Tramper was a project I wasn't planning on doing 'till I had already started "doing it" . The donor truck (minus the section of the truck from the rear of the front doors forward) sat in my driveway while I built ZZ. It killed me to think of carting it off to the scrapyard. I figured I could convert it for use as a enclosed trailer, which I needed like a hole in the head. One thing led to another, the idea of solar panels, LCD flatscreens, propane heating and such filled my head and voila, another $6k down the tube. :withstupid:

Wow, Petey. Very impressive. Its one thing to have grand ideas and great vision, but its a completely different thing to be able to pull it off like that AND button up all the details and loose ends, so much so, that it looks like a factory option package ( only available in :canuk: ). AS Phrisk said, Bravo! =D> :bounce: That is one sweet machine.

And the chaser, Tramper, is certainly worthy of its own thread. Does such a thread exist?

Ahhh,a bitter sweet question indeed...

It used to exist in a thread ( in another dimension and time ) but alas is no more.Although I have heard a rumour that the pics are archived in a little blue computer somewhere far up in the wilds of Kabeck.

Not to worry the story of the tramper will one day be told again and can then be past down to future generations for their enjoyment :D
