roof rack?

Post by 1low-stro »

Hey guys. So the weather is getting nicer by the day and I wanna start modding my van. Now here is my question I wanna remove the emblems (Cause I can't stand them) and the roof rack, but i'm not sure if it's screwed into the roof or held on by some crazy tape. Now I was wondering if anyone has done this before and if they could give me some pointers.
Apprecieate the help.

the roof rack is screwed in , your going to have to fill the holes with something so you don't get any leaks . i've heard people use silicon or something like that to fill them but if its lowered your going to see the holes . believe me i know . #-o #-o #-o
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

my 94 was screwed in and i just siliconed the holes, if your good at body work you can fill them with bondo and sand and paint.

As everyone has said,,they are screwed in and you either have glued on rubber ribs or stainless that are also screwed on(the stainless).
I had removed my stainless ribs after removing rack but plan on reinstalling them so I won't have so many holes to fill and think the stainless ribs with no rack will look ok.

You might need an impact wrench to remove it. I tried removing Green's but ended up spinning the nut that's attached to the roof on the first bolt. I ended up JB Welding the nut and leaving the rack on. Maybe after Grumpy is going again I'll take a second crack at it.
