New Carbon Tax
so what do my fellow bc residents think about this fine gov't idea? i just got home from a long ride and saw prices rise to a new high of $1.52.
was kind of amusing watching the line ups and tempers flaring at stations which had dropped prices to $1.42 just prior to midnight.....line ups around the block.....now only if we had decent weather like this year round i'd ride my bike more....even that cost me close to $19 to fill up.....what used to cost me $10 last year

I just got back from Clearbrook ... smoking warm at 35-38C even at 730PM .. the air out there is so hot you dont want a breeze. Gas price was the same there as in Vancouver. They need to remove these $100 pump limits >.<

Re: New Carbon Tax
HA HA Rocke and I filled up yesterday with premium for .157 a litre in town here. Seems that when they put the price up they put the decimal point in the wrong place. 84 litres just $10.25. I filled my 25 litre gas can for $3.25. Personally I plan on going down to the states for gas it is at least .25 a litre cheaper. I am just heading out the door to spend my $100 carbon tax credit on gas in the states. This tax is stupid it just gets people angry that they are taxing more and more even though the gas prices have gone up 40% this year alone. The high gas prices are already getting people to stop driving and make better choices but now adding more tax onto my heating bill will simply make me burn more wood to heat the house and that sure as hell isn't going to decrease my carbon foot print but it will lift the dent out of my wallet.

Re: New Carbon Tax
Actually it was 65 litres for $10.21. I filled my car and my van at 15.7 cents per litre.
I agree that we need to do something about our carbon imprint. No one likes taxes, but that is life. I will be interested to see what they do with the money they collect. I actually think the tax is as fair as a tax can be as it is user based. If I drive my 4 cylinder Honda I will pay less in tax than someone who drives an H2. If I don't drive at all and don't create carbon, I pay no tax. I don't like tax but at least it's my option to pay this one. I guess now I will look at changing my V8 van to a fuel cell???

Quit rubbing the VOTM in our face LOL ... wow that would be pretty crazy to convert to fuel cell but forget having space to haul the bikes dude.
Hey you Crash dude ... next time you run into a gem station like that mind giving me a call!?!? I was not aware the old Astro / Safaris only had 65L tanks? My AWD is 90L ... right? I usually do not wait for "redline" (bad for pump?) and fill up - the last time I did that I still got 65-75L in.
The tax credit does make folks mad. For me I do use the vehicle for what it is worth and gas is just the bad part about it which I can live with. Now that they are taxing for the use, I kind of am mad. There are folks out there with trucks / suvs that do not use it and just want to roll in it. We need insurance like in Euro - then I will pick up a cheap 4cyl for work commute. But to justify the parking space, insurance not even including the cost of the vehicle it does not add up to do so to save on gas / tax.
Luggage + craft items + 6 adults in 35-38C weather rolling on hwy anywhere from 90kph - 150kph I got an average of 14L/100KM = 16.8mpg. This weekend going camping up North.
Enjoy life and dont let little dumb things bug yah

Re: New Carbon Tax
All I can say to the Government is kiss my astro butt ... Their trying to get us out of our vehicles but I bet you they have never tried taking the skytrain or the bus to work... It's a struggle just to get on the skytrain. If I was to drive to work it would take me half hour or less, if I took the skytrain it would take me an hour or more... thats with the train on it's good days. On top of having to get up extra early and walking up and down steep hills to get to the station. I have to change my personality from calm and nice to mean and pushy. The skytrain is so full of people that when the doors open people are falling out. Then when there is a little room on board you get people pushing there way on. Once you manage to get on the train you've got armpits in the face, toes stepped on, elbows in ribs. Then when I get off, it's time to walk threw bum littered streets with drug addicted hookers with sores on their face coming up to you asking for some money.... By the time I get to work I'm tierd, mad, and needing a show. 5 oclock rolls around, it starts all over again... Now if I were to drive my van to work, I would be comfy, calm, relaxed, safe, ontime, I can strech out my arms, listen to music, lock my doors, and go to work with a smile. It's hard anough to afford houses around here, now it's hard to get to work. If they want to tax us like this then they better get their Transit system working!!!! I think I'm going to join the bums, the Government pays them to do nothing . I'll live in my van down by the river!! I would keep ranting about all the things that are wrong with society but I only get a hour for lunch....

How on earth did this tax get approved?? Your getting ripped off plain and simple, soon they will tax you for the clean air your helping to contribute to, get together with other BC'ers and tell them to take their tax and shove it. Don't fall for the "were only taxin those who abuse" nonesense, vote these people out of office ASAP!

Re: New Carbon Tax
There is a petition against it and the Government already knows that 68% of B.Cer's are mad as hell about it, but they still did it. This is going to bite them in the butt later

Ya dont want to see Steph mad ^_^
I forgot to mention that twice in front of my house I have caught two idiots trying to get gas out of Princess. Pretty lame eh?
I am fine with the gas going up - we still pay less here compared to many places but for crying out loud EVERYTHING else is going up but our pay cheques LOL. And as well people think the strong currency is good for us, no it hurts more and makes it harder to earn dollars for companies here.

Re: New Carbon Tax
quite honestly i can live with the carbon tax....but it should be canada wide. i fail to see what taxing bc alone is going to do to help the environment. i'm sure ontario's oil consumption is miles ahead of what bc uses.
what really pisses me off is the fact that the gov't add's gst on top all the existing taxes....
as long as i'm venting...what's the deal with charging pst on used cars? damn gov't. tax has already paid on that same vehicle already once....

Whoa whoa whoa.... What your saying makes NO sense at all! just because YOUR political leaders came up with this scamblk lt awd wrote:quite honestly i can live with the carbon tax....but it should be canada wide. i fail to see what taxing bc alone is going to do to help the environment. i'm sure ontario's oil consumption is miles ahead of what bc uses.
doesn't mean the rest of Canada should get roped into it. Its just another BC Gov't cash grab, this has nothing to do with Ontario or anywhere else, or ensuring you breath cleaner air.
As Canadians we already pay a ridiculous amount of tax's as it is,and now you want to lay down and have them steamroll you somemore with this new carbon tax under the guise that only the abusers will pay more,LOL no thanks, keep your carbon tax in BC.

Hey we are just trying to share with our eastern brothers. Are you trying to say that you are not interested?
Are you one of those separatists?
