Broken read door handle - finally got me.

Post by justice »

And of course it happened at the worst time. I had just pulled into the lot at the club my band was playing at last night, went to open the back door and "plink* door no open..... )>)

And my bass rig is in the back behind the back seat wher the only way to get it out is through the back door. So with a little creative cabling and a borrowed amp I play the show.

Today, i manage to drag my bass rig out of the van over the top of the back seat and out the side door (not easy at all!!!) and go to work to try to get the back door open.

This is my 92 conversion van and as luck would have it, there are NO speakers in the rear door. So I pull the 5 screws holding the top of the plastic trim panel and try to remove the panel, nope, not coming off... look behind it and it looks like there are more screws down at the bottom...yep..3 more through the carpet of the trim panel..took forever to find those suckers...get them out...and then remove the solid door panel thats behind it and finally I can open the door. \:D/

None of the local salvage yards have a working handle (all missing or broken) so I just ordered a genuine GM one off of ebay.

fun stuff... got another gig tonight so i loaded up the shorty van for that one..its nice having more than one van... =D>
I have a ban hammer and I ain't fraid to use it!

Dude! That story was a little unpleasant, but at least you have another ride and a new handle on the way. \:D/

Most people that are Robocop fans don't even get the reference:
Murphy's Law.
Peter Weller: Murphy.... Law.
Or maybe it's just the way my mind works? :-k :-k
