FUll HID conversion kit for 1990 Astro (now installed)
Just wanted to post pictures of the new HID kit I just got for the Van.
I will do some, before and after pictures to see the difference.
I will post the info on the kit later as my friend sells them and ships all over north america.
So if you guys like the conversion I will be able to get you a good price on a group buy! =D>

Re: FUll HID conversion kit for 1990 Astro
Wow! This post couldn't have come at a better time for me. I was just noticing that my headlights have water inside them and I had planned on replacing them, but was wondering if there was a HID kit for the earlier model vans. Looking forward to the before and after pics.
I'm with Gary on this, what does a setup like this cost?

Re: FUll HID conversion kit for 1990 Astro
Ok so the cost of the HID kit is $120.00, that is for the bulbs and ballasts.
The projector lenses are $60.00 for the pair and come with H4 super white bulbs if you don't want to do the HID thing.
The HID kit comes with a one year warranty.
I have had a set of 6000K HID's in my car for a couple of years now and love them. So far they have not had any problems and it is my daily driver. (2003 Honda accord)

Little brothers. They'll never learn....
I'm surprised at the price. I had been shopping for a set for my Charger, but most of the cheaper kits seem to be causing nothing but trouble for the guys on the Charger Forum. Far as I was concerned after reading about all the issues, if you spent less than $300-$400, you were getting junk that wouldn't last a year.
Is the kit pictured the same brand as what you installed on your other driver, "Mr July"?

alot of the newer Dodge vehicles are having problems with replacing their stock lights with HID's since the headlights are CAN BUS data controlled. DAmn computers screw up everything.peter wrote:Little brothers. They'll never learn....

I bought my HID's in a group buy on a Scion forum 2.5 years ago and had zero problems. I paid $200 back then. The company I work for sells HID kits and I have a 8K kit on my Astro. I love them, the ballasts are real tiny. They are made by Xenonworx. check them out at http://www.xenonworx.com

the lenses I have use the diffuser and with the HID's it makes a flower pattern. I'm thinking of getting differnt lenses without the diffuser to see what it looks like.

Re: FUll HID conversion kit for 1990 Astro
Well I finally got off my a#$ and installed the HID's in the Van. Here are some pictures of the beginning, middle, and end.
I have also put in some pics with one HID and one Sylvania "super white" high output sealed beam for comparison reasons.
I will test them out at night and let you know what I think.

wow.. what a difference with the left and right different. thanks for posting those install pics... great to see where the ballasts were mounted.
that looks like the same ballasts that are used in a kit I saw installed on customers 07 canyon (he did headlights and fogs). he's been running it for 4mths now with no issues.

Re: FUll HID conversion kit for 1990 Astro (now installed)
Ok so I just took the Van out for a little night test.
The bulbs throw a lot of light and look great.
One problem is the cheap lenses don't have a good spread pattern. I would not recommend these cheap housings.
I think I will look for a quality housing with a diffuser that will give a good pattern. I'll post up when I find some and get them installed.
