Interesting mini hoist
This is interesting. http://www.ezcarlift.com/ It's like a mini portable hoist. One thing that caught my eye was in the slide show of it being used on the right side of the home page they had an Astro up on it.
The price is kinda up there tho. I can get a used Rotary 2Post off an installer I know way less than that. But a roatary 2 post isn't exactly portable.

The things that keep people awake at night.
Yea, pricey.
I've seen new 4 post setups for less than $1000 advertised in the back of transmission shop magazines.
But, as you say, not exactly portable,

I have seen pictures of Calli repair shops having these outside doing their repairs.

Yup, not a bad idea at all. Folds up against the wall of your garage when you don't need it. I think it's a great idea. =D>

Re: Interesting mini hoist
Neat little gadget. Too much stuff in the way. A floor jack and 4 jack stands do the same thing.

Good point.Smiliesafari wrote:Neat little gadget. Too much stuff in the way. A floor jack and 4 jack stands do the same thing.
That is a neat lift though. I had mused about something similar with 4 hydraulic jacks. that lift is much simpler from a mechanical standpoint.
I get the heebee jeebies when I'm under a vehicle on 4 jack stands though.
'89 Astro, 4.3L, TBI. Minor intake and exhaust mods. Rebuilt 700R4 trans (by me). Corvette servo, 0.5" boost valve, police grade 1-2 accumulator spring (shifts fast and solid). Re: Interesting mini hoist
four seperate jack stands can shift..that would be more like four jackstands welded together. in my opinion it looks safer

Re: Interesting mini hoist
A lot quicker to use, but I would think 4 jack stands would be more versatile. If you got the room and can afford the two post lift is the ultimate way to go.

The room for it is the hard part. I have a 2 post lift sitting in storage waiting for me to find somewhere to put it. My current garage even has an 18' ceiling but the darn garage isn't wide enough . That mini lift tho I think would fit the bill for me except it costs a boat load!
