Danny--that interior shot where the brake pedal is still in place really caught my eye. I'm trying to visualize a clutch pedal sitting in there beside the brake pedal. Wonder if my 89's brake pedal support is similar to what your van has.

Come on man, Danny is not the only one who does big things. haha. This is me doing this stuff [-X . The ebrake is being removed due to fact that I eliminated it in the rear drums cause the cable stuck. Plus it gets rid of that ugly pedal. (even tho. a clutch pedal would fit there nicely.)

Not for nothing,but if it where me,not sure I would paint the engine compartment the same as the engine.Contrast makes colors stand out.

or just paint it black, im suprised with all the work going in to it the door jams never got painted in the first place, lookin good though!

Ordered the tranny from Monster transmission and performace at Eatmyshift.com. Its good for up to 500Hp and it comes with a 1650 stall converter. 1550$ total and it is a drop in.

I continued to tare down the engine bay tonight. Had about two hours of work and I got a little bit done. Sorry, no pictures tonight, but friday they will come. Got the core support down pretty much naked and I got the A/C compressor and lines out of there. Also, got almost the entire engine harness out of there too. till next time.

Tonight I got quite a bit of work done. I got to the block, removed most of the top of the engine, wiring is out, starter and battery cables gone, much more. Check it out.











Thats all for now, I am only about an hour from actually dropping the subframe. Will have updates soon.

I've said this before in Danny's and others threads, its great when members share their knowledge and info on the Forum, but what puts certain threads into the next level is... when they take the time and effort to take pics,download to their computer/upload to a photo-host and then include them in their posts for the benefit of the entire forum.That extra effort ( which often can be a pita to include,LOL ) really makes a difference not only in the entertainment value but especially with the educational value of their thread, which ALL Forum members and visitors benefit from.

ha i beat you to your own thread vance! here are some pics off my camera of our progress over in vances hood...me and vance worked all night friday and saturday got everything out and prepped. ran into a little mess on the v8 motor mounts need some spacers due to slight changes in the subframes. and the mounts were designed for an old body. so hopefully he will have the motor on the subframe tomorrow.

Update:

Over the course of the last two weeks lead up to this weekend. I completly disassembled the engine bay to get ready to paint and pull the cradle.

Friday afternoon/night-Danny and I dropped the subframe and got every little clip and bolt off of the fire wall. We found out that my way of lifting the van would work. We lifted the van with an engine hoist from the lower core support and then lowed the van down on 10 ton jack stand on the frame. The stands extend over 30" and they work perfict. Danny also cleaned the entire engine bay.

Saturday noon-Ohio state football game. Go Bucks!

Saturday afternoon-Danny focused on scuffing the entire engine bay including inner fender wells, fire wall, core support and outer fender lips. I worked on getting the V8 sitting on the frame. Engine mounts are old school mounts for a 94' or later so I need to make some mods to get them to work. Tranny that was ordered from Monster Tranny was the wrong one(thought it was a one piece but turns out that it was a two piece). Must send out the tranny and return it for the correct one.

Saturday night-Danny and I started to mask off the entire engine bay for paint. taped off the fire wall holes, finders, windshild and plastic covered the rest.

Sunday noon-Cleand the whole engine bay top to bottom and my old man come over to spray the sealer, color and clear.

As a hole, the week end tuned out very well and I acheived my overall goal of getting the engine bay painted. Here are some pictures.

Wow! lots done! Looks good, I can't wait til I have a garage so I can do stuff like that. It's good to have friends you can count on for help when you need it. Keep it up!
