350 injectors on a 305?

Post by dj_joker_2002 »

I installed 350 injectors on my 305 and I now have a code 44 witch is lean exhaust. could this be from the larger injectors?

Strange, you'd think that the larger injectors would have the opposite effect :-k

The ECU governs the time the injectors stay open. It could be the ECU is reading a rich mixture and has leaned it out. Just a thought. \:D/

DJ, before I carbed my '89, I was running 350 injectors on my 305. I never got the code 44, but it did cause a problem. When in closed loop, all seemed fine. However, at idle, the ECM would revert to open loop and the engine would run rich. Rich to the point of puffing black smoke. So I don't know what could be causing your van's condition--seems like you'd see the same problem that I did.

I found the gasket under the TBI adapter was junk. I replaced that gasket and the one under the TBI itself and now I have a code 45 which is lean exhaust. The engine smokes upon starting but other then that I don't see smoke. Also when I stop the engine seems to want to die, very low idle.

OK after driving it for a few days : black smoke when starting, bogs when getting up to speed on the highway then comes out of it, when ever I stop at a a light or stop sign it seems like it wants to stall but hasn't yet. of course this is also causing the trans to shift erratically but just a little.
I am driving it just to DJ gigs and nothing more until my rebuilt injectors come in. Oh and it is sucking the gas down hard core!
