pics of progress on my summer project ('91 c1500)
I thought I would share a few pics of the progress on my brothers pickup. It has a 4/6 DJM drop, bilstein shocks, American Racing IROC replicas, 20x8.
Hopefully I will get the rollpan and tailgate shaved soon, and finish up the interior and get it into paint before summer is over. He will hopefully be back from Iraq in early October. I couldn't help but want to see what the wheels would look like on my van so...
Thanks, for checking it out.

IROC rims are a Classic look that look great on any Chevy vehicle, especially any Chevy that never came with them as stock. I see them on older Montys, old Camaros, Pick-ups, Impalas, Caprices, El Caminos.... Plus they look great on Astros!
I like to see older cars with newer style of rims and a Foose-Style paint job.
Here in SoCal they are repoduced by "Oasis Wheels" and are triple chromed available in 16,17,18, 20,22,24 inch diameters.
Mine are 18`s.....

SoCalli, your van is what inspired me to go with those wheels for the truck. What size tires do you use, the truck has 245-40-20 which is about 28" tall, definitely too big for the front of my van. I think the 18's are about perfect for the lowered astros, 20's must have some really short sidewalls.

My van is a daily driver that rides really comfortable, I have 245/45/18 tires on there but next set I may try a 50 series.

Another update, I have been working on the interior, upgraded to bonneville bucket seats and changed most of the interior to black. I got the door handles and antenna holes shaved. I also got the plain chrome bumper on. I am relocating the gas filler door to the inside of the bed next.

Its cool that your looking after/ and working on your brother's truck while he's over serving in Iraq, it will be a nice surprise for him when he gets back.

Thanks for the comments guys, I am glad to be able to do some cool stuff to my brothers truck while he is gone, it has been a fun learning experience. I have never used a welder before this summer, the same goes for the bodywork. I hope to do more on the van and my truck, when the finances permit it.

Would it be any more difficult to drop a set of the bonneville buckets into these vans?? they look pretty nice.

I am pretty sure that they bolt straight in. The astro buckets are about 13" across and a little over 14" deep. The 92-00 bonneville, 88-98/00 fullsize truck/blazer/tahoe/suburban and the last body style caprice all share that same measurement. I had the same thought after sitting in the truck, they are very nice. The only thing they dont have that my astro seats do is an armrest, which I personally don't use. Hope this helps.

Re: pics of progress on my summer project ('91 c1500)
I was looking around the site and found this thread from last summer that I should give you guys a final update on the progress of the truck. I gave the truck back to my brother last fall, and he drove it around in primer for another year. I finally got settled in a new place so I got the truck from him about a month ago to finish the shaved handles and the back up entry methods for the truck. While I had the truck we also decided to get it painted.
Anyway, we are both pretty excited to have it finished, this project has been progressing slowly for the last six years and is the first customized vehicle that we have finished. The only other plans we have for it now are v8 six speed swap if the v6 ever dies.

Looks good!
Hey, weren't you down in Pullman before? You are getting more up my way now!
(If you are looking for a group of more local misfits, you might check out the Yakima Valley Truck Club forum. It's mostly Yakima area guys, but some are in the Lower Valley too.)
