Re: v6 question
I would think the main engine would work ok. The differences might be in the intake etc....
but someone will chim in shortly to give you a definite answer. Good luck....oh have many miles on the 2000 engine (140)

Re: v6 question
Go to http://www.car-parts.com and plug in the engine you want to put in.See if the yrs they range covers what you want to do.Kind of a indirect parts cross.

Re: v6 question
I believe the Vin code X motor is 2000 and up isnt it? Check your VIN number, the eighth position is the engine code. 97 is a W motor.

Re: v6 question
v8 is a little out of my budget i have maybe 800 to play with if that
sfeaver-my van has a w code engine and its a 2000 i think the x code engine came in the trucks..maybe its tbi or something...thats what im trying to clear up whats the difference between a vin code x 4.3 and a vin code w 4.3 i have some money coming my way and want to fix my van i miss her lol
plus what i save on the engine (250 for the x code 4.3) i can put into rebuilding my tranny cause thats the next thing to go
this might have been posted TONS of info
http://www.babcox.com/editorial/ar/ar40047.htm
after reading the vin code x engine makes ten less horse power due to the crank? i think thats what it said
it also said the same heads were used until 98 but doesnt go into the 4.3 (262) engines newer then that

Re: v6 question
I know for sure a 2004 van has the X motor, I thought 2000 was the change over. I dont know all the changes, horsepower isnt one of them though, it is still 190. It does come with the newer injectors, but they will work in the 97 as I have changed my fuel injector spider to the newer version. As for other changes, I dont think the're are any that would cause the motor to not run in your van.
I dont know for sure though, have you tried sifting through the gmpowertrain.com website to see what they list for the 4.3 V6? It shows the changes I believe.
