11 inch brake question

Post by canadavan »

So I've been sitting on my 11 inch brake drums, g80 rearend, new steel leaf springs and flip kit install for about a year now and I'm tired of waiting. The warden of the wallet and the schedule (ie. my wife) keeps postponing my opportunites to get er done. (Not having a space to do the job makes it harder too.) Anyway I've decided to just do the rearend and brakes to start off because I can do it by myself and in our townhouse parking lot and it shouldn't take more than a few hours. So I was looking at the 11 inch backing plates and I've noticed that they don't have a hole for the abs sensor line to pass though. I'm guessing that I can just measure the hole relative to the old backing plate and drill my own but it did get me to thinking: will I have any trouble with the abs working on the bigger brakes?

Peter, did you keep your abs?

In reference to Peters van, the newer vans don't use sensors at the brake area.
