Help out one of my Corvar buds with Astro Q's

Post by ScottS »

One of the guys on the Corvair Forum is putting a 97 Astro engine into a Blazer - here is waht he asked

Well what seemed like a good deal has kinda turned into a pain in the rear!I recently bought a mint 95 blazer with a vin code W 4.3 the one that has the cpi injection with the crank trigger in the timming cover.Ok now heres my questions since the 96 and up engines have a different intake and accesory drive set ups, would it be possible to use one in my 95 if I swap over my parts to the newer engine? Ive been told the 95 was a odd ball because it had the intake set up like a 93 up W engine but the same ignition system thats like the 96 and up engine thus the use of the crank trigger.I would like to know if the newer stuff will work as I have access to a 97 4.3 from a astro van I can have if it will work at all help!

I shoudl also mention that he is in either SE Wisconsin or N Ilinois and he says the van is in good shape -thisis what he said about the 97

the astro is being pieced out because I dont need the rest of it and it has some small electrical issuies but it runs and drives well. What do you need from it?

So if anyone in that area wants to pick over a 97 carcass, I can get you in touch with him
Also , if his engine swap is not going to work, I am sure the whole van would be available
