Post by spl.tattoo »

Hi!
I have a 1997 safari 2wd.
I have a deal on 31/10.5/r15 on z28 mags, I know this is not my bolt pattern but I'm gonna buy adapter for that.

I wanna know if they will fit on my van with a stock suspenssion...? You have to know that my adapter have 3/4" like a spacer...
Thanks and I hope have good news!

they will fit on the rear, but the sliding door will hit the tire. As for the front. Nope. Biggest stock is 235/75-R15, which even then you have to do some hammering of the wheel well.
To fit 31" tires up front you would need at least 3" of lift

In terms of BFGs, the 30" is only 9" wide versus 12" on with the 31".

Rim width... and your spacers... are going to be the problem with the sliding door. I think if you kept a rim size of 7", without the additional 1.5" spacer, you would be fine. I know some folks have run 8" rims and even wider, so they can chime in.

without modification to numerous items, they will NOT fit.

ok

LaGrasta
What do you mean by many modification? what I should have to do? You talk about the front? because if they dont fit in the front i will put original size (215/75/r15), but I really want to have 31¨ in the back (look nice but i'm not sure if it safety to put 31¨ just in the back)...

zombie{[six]}
I know you have 31¨ on your van but do you have 1 1/4 spacers on it? if not and you already rubs the sliding door, I know my door will not open. but If you have spacers and the door open (even if they rubs the slidding door) it will be ok to me and i will be happy!! lol.

thanks

As everyone else has said...NO the 31x10.5R15's will not fit on a stock suspension van unless you want to do a LOT of trimming and cutting up front. Depending on the backspacing or offset the wheels have, you may be able to get away with the spacers and still be able to open the sliding door.

There is a lot of reading on fitting wheel/tire combos in this section, 4 pages worth...time to do a lot of research.

1995 Astro 2WD conversion 4.11 posi, shift kit, DHC rock rails - sold to Skippy
1998 Astro 4x4 D44, D60, NP231, full hydraulic system with 9k# Milemarker winch and snow plow - sold to Lockdoc
2003 Astro AWD all stock - traded for a 3/4 ton truck
2005 AWD, 4.10's - sold to skippy

NO they won't fit, and even if you somehow made them fit they would probably look pretty stupid.

Buy the wheels, and then buy a lift kit for your van. Ahhhh, problem solved!
=D>

Spacers will most likely make the slider rub the tire, or hit the tire allowing the door to open only halfway, like mine. I have 1.5" spacers.

I'm thinking you may not have to worry about rear tire rub on the rear door. The 3rd gen camaro wheels have a little more backspacing than the Astro wheels depending on the wheels. Your spacer/adapters may actually move wheel into about the proper stock position. You need to measure the backspcing on the camaro wheels and see what you can get away with. I ran 31's on stock fullsize Chevy truck rally wheels and had about 1/2-1" of clearance on the slider. I had a 95 2WD and had 5" of lift and still had to trim the front bumper and front fender a bit for rubbing. My van came with 235/70/15's and doubt I could go any larger without rubbing.
