......and have your camera shuttle open on a tripod or solid surface.
That would be my guess.Also some place away from any city or artificial lights.

yeah, for lightning shots its best to use a manual setting and experiment with shutter speeds but that shot was taken in a freak lighning storm that did not have rain associated with it and it was almost constant lighning that was going everywhere but down. no special settings, just took the picture.

I have some best mates that live in Southern Oregon, and they took me to this place....

This is Crater Lake in Southern Oregon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crater_Lake And it is an absolutely Beautiful sight to see. > Yes the water is really this blue because it is pure, with uncontaminated snow run-off.

This is known as Wizard Island, which was another tiny volcano trying to form in the mouth of the mother volcano.

This can also be regarded as an awesome pic, taken at `07 Neco when I secretly flew in from SoCal to PA, to join everyone camping, (it was such a great time!)

Here we are hangin-oot in "Smurf-Land" chattin aboot ASV eh ? ..... and I was learning a new language...... called Canadian. haha!

nah, its somewhere near Suches and Hiwassee GA or Blue Ridge GA, cant remember now..

Ive got some from Cherokee somewhere though. I rode through there last year and stopped by the river, took off my jacket and set it down on a rock.. big mistake! put it back on and got about a mile down the road and got bit or stung right in the middle of my back! by the time I got my helmet, gloves, jacket off whatever it was was long gone. It was painful so I stayed off the bike for another 30 min to make sure whatever it was wasnt poisonous.. woulda been bad news to pass out riding down the road...
