Hi from new Safari owner in Illinois

Post by Cliff5550 »

Hi. So glad to find this site. Just two months ago we purchased a 1989 GMC Safari conversion van. Love the van, after new exhaust, new tires, and little odds and ends. Right now I'm trying to decide if I need a new fuel filter or the injectors are bad. Bucks at times when accelerating in OverDrive. If I shift up from 2nd, to Drive, to OverDrive, everything seems fine. Ideas? Anyway glad to be here. Like to toss in a photo of the van but haven't found how to do that here yet.

Welcome. Lot of nice folks here and wish I could help ya on the pic posting. Took 6 people and 2 months for me to finally be able to post correctly. :yawinkle: There will be some help with that I'm sure. Not a real big deal but did take me some time. :muhaha:
Have fun and meet the crowd.

Hey Cliff......welcome to the site. If you don't know the prior maintenance of the van it would be a good idea to check everything and maybe do all of the regular things. Then you'll know where you stand. \:D/

Welcome! What part of Illinois are ya from?

I'd do the fuel filter swap first and if it still acts up I'd do the Seafoam in the intake. We recommend changing the fuel filter fairly often in these van, mostly trying to keep the in tank fuel pumps alive.
