Drove 500 hundred miles round trip to Albuquerque (too bad I couldn't get to the Balloon Fiesta, Skip. Dr's appointment. Maybe next year.). Put a container of octane booster/injector cleaner in before we left. Engine performed like a champ! 3.5 hrs there, 2.5 hrs back. Did 90-95 all the way home. I love living in the open desert. This is the only vehicle I've ever owned where I feel confident enough to take it from coast to coast at a moment's notice. Damn GM for dropping the ball!!!!

think the power booster went..... (Hydra boost) lost brakes and power steering at the same time..... inched it to my last two jobs, down shifting and using emergency brakes...... got it home... hoped 88 shorty had the same system to scavenge for parts, but no such luck.
another project to play with the next few days.... anybody changed one before.... something for me to tackle or let mechanics do the honors?

if i remember correctly isn't no brakes or power steering caused by power steering pump failure?

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
this past week i've:
-removed home-rigged exhaust system from previous owner
-swapped exhaust manifolds
-installed cylinder head temp switch and rerouted wire to other side of engine
-got starter and alternator rebuilt and installed the starter
-installed spark plugs
-installed all the missing hardware from fuel filler neck and gas cap
with any luck i'll tow it down to the exhaust shop and have it running sometime in the next 2 weeks...

Drove the '99 to the airport to pick up my wife from vacation (yeah, it's odd but cool), and got a kick out of how the G80 would occaisionally bark the inside tire when I goosed it in the spiral ramp to the parking garage. I'm so like 12 years old sometimes.

Bought some new valve stems and installed one in the leaky wheel from 25% Off, then set the bead using starter fluid and the redneck flame thrower. Tire now passes the soapy water test. If the pressure is still good tomorrow, Grumpy will be getting some different wheels for the winter.

It took a while, but it did finally sink in. Very cool reasoning also. I like the goth stuff and love Metal, I just don't look the part. I guess I'm black on the inside, lol.
Oh yeah, all I did was use my van to drag my butt to and fro work today, first day back since the 8th. There, on topic...kind of.
Just remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people- Mr Garrison
