van not getting warm....

van not getting warm....
my drive to work is about 40 mins stop and go. my van will not go above 180 degrees.. now correct me if i am wrong but isent it supose to run at 210? if so my thermostat is got to be stuck open whats stock? 195??? oh is a 95 AWD
SOLD and missing my 1995 Astro AWD 5 1/2 lift and 31 inch tires...

195 is stock. running temp i believe is in the 200-210 range. my van puts out heat before it hits 180 not hot but warm

Don't go by the dash gauge. The one in the SPB is off by around 30 degrees. There are 2 temp sensors, one for the dash gauge and one for the ECM. Get a scanner and see what the ECM is seeing and I bet you are right at 195 - 200.

even on long trips my dash seldom exceeds 190...

Like Dean mentioned, these gauges are not bang on. I'd be concerned whether I see a noticible drop in temp ( as when the t-stat opens ) if you do not get this drop then your t-stat is prob stuck open and needs to be replaced. How is the heat at the vents? hot/warm steady/intermitant, have you checked the levels in rad/overflow bottle?

Just to give an idea of the C to F :
200 degrees Fahrenheit = 93.3 degrees Celsius
198 degrees Fahrenheit = 92.2 degrees Celsius
196 degrees Fahrenheit = 91.1 degrees Celsius
194 degrees Fahrenheit = 90.0 degrees Celsius
192 degrees Fahrenheit = 88.9 degrees Celsius
188 degrees Fahrenheit = 86.7 degrees Celsius
During summer with 36C outside temp ... while doing extended (15-20 minute) mountain climbing (2nd gear@3000+RPM) the Scangauge will show temps up to 92-94C. If just driving with ups and downs I am around 84-86C.
I have a tranny cooler as well.
