Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
discussed paint ideas with a guy at work, bought some o-rings for the fuel lines, was going to install them but was already dark out and didn't feel like digging the extension cord out from under my excessively heavy welder to hook up my shop light, maybe tomorrow...
rlsllc-don't feel bad, many people think the name means i'm a huge fan of death metal/grindcore...but i do like a couple of bands...i like to think there aren't any stupid questions...i hope not anyways, since i'm always asking questions, but usually only when they come to mind...which may or may not be relevant to what is going on at the time (usually not) and may or may not be in the order someone else would ask them (usually not) but it makes sense to me...

Grumpy: Swapped the worn BFG Radial TA/American Racing Outlaw wheels with the Cornell/stock rims from 25% Off. Discovered that the leaky BFG/AR wheel was blowing air out around the valve stem. Hope to have the AR rims cleaned up, new tires purchased ad install them on Green in the spring.
Green: Reinstalled the water pump, trying to find a Kat's 10612 frost plug block heater to install before I'm ready to put the coolant back in.

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
Replaced---- Both rear drums / shoes / hardware/ ABS to Rear brake line. While underneath I noted a leaking oil cooler line, Leaking output shaft seal, Leaking diff seal, Leaking coolant line. ](*,) ](*,)
Test drove it. First time I have driven the van in over 8 months. Steering still tight , Brakes work great again. Also noticed how much better the ride is in the van compared to my truck.. Also how much quieter. Turn off the stereo in the van and you can hear a little engine. Turn it off in the truck and you hear a decent rumble and turbo whine. But the seats in the truck are 10 times more comfortable and the amount of leg / head room is way better.
Ended 9 hours of repairs and inspection with a lecture for the better half about checking fluids and such since the oil was well below half , Tranny fluid was below 3/4 and coolant was almost non existant. Made it a point to make it clear that she needs to let me know when she notices a level dropping on a regular basis so I can deal with it. Next weekend I will be fixing all these leaks. Thank god they are all slow leaks hate to think about the situation if they were leaking faster. Should start pulling loosening the dipstick once in a while so I can see how often she checks em.. Kinda like what I do with my employees. Just pop the stick up a bit without them knowing and then keep an eye out for when it's back in properly.

Potskie, I monitor our families vehicle situation with a weekly fueling and fluids checks. Oh, and I also check tire pressure weekly. What kind of brake material/brand brake shoes did you use? Jimpotskie wrote:

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
while at work yesterday I ran the 93 over to the shop I get my emissions testing at. PASS
the 93 always made me a little nervous about emissions testing because it smokes once at startup (seals) since day 1 and yet it passes everytime.. LOL
I didn't need the test until april 2010 but it's good for a year and is a rest easy bonus selling feature, if I decide to sell it :-k

Re: What did you do to/with your van today?
replaced rear brakes with new shoes, hardware and cylinders...one was leaking pretty badly and the other was seeping and everything looked dodgy with rust and such and the adjusters were both hopelessly seized...sucked the dark brown brake fluid out of the master cylinder with a turkey baster and flushed the lines out with nice clean fluid, going to final bleed system tomorrow when the drums come in...
