When you say, "loading up" I assume you mean flooding?

Have you checked your fuel pressure?

With no check engine light on there will be nothing for the computer to reset. As far as the OBD is concerned, there is nothing wrong.

Have you replaced the temp gauge? I'm wondering if your temp gauge is working. How about the engine coolant temp sender? It's the one that signals the ECU. The ECU may think the engine is cold and adding more fuel. What does the spray pattern look like at the injectors? Then there is the throttle body. It could need a rebuild. \:D/

when i bought it,the temp gauge barely went over 100.i put in a new 195 thermostat and it went to 180 - 190 range. it has heat now and gauge is working fine.it runs alot better now but still loads up at idle.i don't know what engine it is,has the spider intake throttle body at front of motor.

A carbonized EGR valve would give a ruff idle giving you the impression of a rich idle. You just remove the EGR valve and clean out the junks of carbon. Then from the help section of your local auto parts store buy and install a screen gasket. It is a common maintenance item.

i think i might have made a big mistake. when i changed the thermostat i degreased the map sensor and hosed it off,and let it air dry. i hope i did not damage the maf. how would i know if it is bad?

If your MAF is bad it will throw a code and turn on your check engine light.
Does your check engine light come on when you start the van? The bulb may be burnt out.
