engine numbers ????? Help!!

On my latest Astro, how do i check numbers on engine, was supposed to be a gm replacement engine. Vans runs great from Nevada has 174k on od but supposed to have 60k on new motor. Still a great deal but like to know for sure. Paid $450.00 for van, no rear seats, but great possibilities, my third Astro. No pics yet but working on , when the snow clears.

That question has never come up here. For $450 I wouldn't care what the engine numbers were as long as it ran and drove. I would be more concerned about 174k on the tranny.
